Millusions® Metal

Great discoveries are often the result of pure chance. It certainly worked that way for Andy Kozlowski in 2004 when he started Millusions®, a division of his family's machining shop, AM Precision Machining Inc. in Elk Grove Village.

Andy was using his expertise in metal-working to apply a decorative finish to a stainless steel bar that a contractor was planning to install in a new restaurant and bar he was building.

"We were also machining aerospace parts in our shop at the time, and the light refracted off the aluminum in a rainbow of colors that I wasn't getting with the grinders I was using on the bar," Andy says. "So I decided to use the aerospace tools on the bar instead. Then I experimented with text, which is a lot more complicated, so I wasn't expecting much. But when I took the piece of metal outside with me and the sun hit it just right, I saw that at different angles, the words had a holographic effect, like they were floating an inch below the surface of the metal. That's when I knew I was onto something."

Andy went on to patent the Millusions® process. Because of its ability to provide prismatic, holographic-like decorative finishes on a variety of items including furniture, musical instruments, walls, floors, and signage, Millusions® is now a licensee for the Coca-Cola.

"Millusions® is the way to go for companies who want to reinforce their brand, because we go above and beyond to find the best solution for them," said Margaret. Millusions® brings a creative aspect to clients, helping them develop the right eye-catching product by "customizing patterns to meet clients' unique needs."
